A line in the sand has been drawn

Amendments to Approved Document L of the Building Regulations for England and Wales and Section 6 of the Scottish Building Standards are due to come into force in October 2010. The proposed amendments mean that ALL replacement windows of all types will need a BFRC Window Energy rating of C or above in England and Wales. This isn't as easy as it sounds, particularly for non standard products such as fully reinforced and woodgrain foiled casements, vertical sliders and tilt and turns. This is especially daunting for the window companies that don't yet have any Window Energy Rating and don't know how to go about getting one. Just for the record, Scotland is going even further down the energy efficient route and setting B rating as the required standard.

Some real hurdles to leap then for window fabricators and installers, however some REAL help is at hand.

Edgetech is hosting a series of FREE workshops across the UK and Ireland to help window companies achieve the Window Energy Ratings they need to meet the proposed Building Regulations ahead of time.

Delegates to the regional events will leave with everything they need to achieve the BFRC Window Energy Ratings their businesses need, including:

  • FREE Thermal Simulation Reports by BFRC Certified Simulators
  • FREE System Air Leakage Reports
  • FREE factory process control system document template
  • Introduction to appropriate accredited IG provider
  • Diary date for DISCOUNTED Independent Assessor audit
